Q:
Are there any costs involved for me when I sell my gold jewellery to Postal Gold?
A: No. Selling your gold items to us is absolutely free of charge. The postage on our Gold Return Kits is prepaid and the package is insured. Even if you ask us to return your gold, we will not charge you anything. Any costs incurred in returning the payment (for example, postage) will be at your own expense.
Q:
Why does Postal Gold not give a quote on the phone or the website?
A: The price of gold fluctuates on a daily basis. Also, until items are analysed we have no way of independently verifying the weight and fineness of the piece. Since any price we would quote in advance of receiving your items would be different from the actual payment, we simply avoid this practice. You can elect to receive a quotation from us by enclosing the Quotation Request Form contained in the Gold Kit. Please note that this will delay you receiving payment for your items.
Q:
Is it safe to send valuable gold items via mail?
A: Yes. Our Gold Kits are shipped via Royal Mail with pre-paid insurance up to £500. If you wish to send items with a total value in excess of £500, you may divide them between more than one Gold Kit, each having a separate insurance value of £500. In case we return your items, they will also be insured for up to £500.
Q:
What is the Gold Kit?
A: The Gold Kit is comprised of all the shipping materials you will need to send your items back to us. It contains a re-sealable pouch, a tear-free shipping envelope and a form on which you provide us with your payment information. We provide you with all the materials you need and pay the cost of shipping and insurance.
Q:
What items does Postal Gold accept?
A: We primarily accept anything containing gold: rings, charms, necklaces, chains, brooches, earrings, cufflinks, pins and any other jewellery. While we focus on gold you can also send us items containing other precious metals such platinum and palladium, however we do not buy silver or gemstones. We do not give credit for either design of an item or for sentimental value.
Q:
What about diamonds and other gemstones?
A: We are able to accept items that include gemstones, however, we are solely focused on the recycling of gold and other precious metals and therefore we do not offer a payment for any gemstones included in your items. If you would like to keep the gemstones for any reason, we recommend that you remove them before sending in the Gold Kit as some stones may be damaged by the evaluation process. However, it is not necessary to remove the stones if you do not wish to keep them.
Q:
When will I get my payment?
A: We will submit your payment within 24 hours after the assessment of your items. Please allow 1-3 days for the Royal Mail to deliver payments by cheque to you, or the bank to complete the transfer.
Q:
What happens to non-precious items?
A: We do not purchase costume jewellery or items not containing precious metals. We also do not purchase silver or gemstones. These items will not be returned to you, except if you request otherwise within 14 days (inclusive of weekends and public holidays) of the date when we informed you that your items do not contain precious metals. We will then send your non-precious items back to you, insured for up to £500. For full information, please refer to our terms and conditions.
Q:
Can I still change my mind after receiving Postal Gold's payment?
A: Postal Gold offers a 100% Satisfaction or Gold-Back Guarantee. If you change your mind, simply contact us within 14 days (inclusive of weekends and public holidays) of the payment issue date. You will then have an additional 14 days (inclusive of weekends and public holidays) to return the payment to us. We will then send your jewellery back to you, insured for up to £500. For full information, please refer to our terms and conditions.
Q:
Are there any restrictions on sending items outside of Mainland UK?
A: All customers sending gold items through to Postal Gold do so under the terms and conditions set out on their Gold Kit. Please note that the postal service to some very rural or outlying areas may take slightly longer. For customers in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, please note that due to differences in the postal service, extra fees may apply when sending your items through the Post Office. We regret that this fee is not refundable.
